Congratulations Ruth!
Ruth's 13,000 (approx) mile journey to bicycle through the smallest incorporated town in all 48 contiguous states culminated today at Barbers Points on Oahu. Her goal was realized at about noon at the end of Franklin Street... Barbers Point.
(The Navy's last naval air station in the Hawaiian Islands was disestablished during a 01 July 1999 ceremony, closing out 57 years of service. NAS Barbers Point --"Crossroads of the Pacific"-- carved out of brush and coral on the leeward side of Oahu early in WW II, was turned over to the state of Hawaii.)
Don and Kathy Babkirk traveled from Spokane Washington to cheer and congratulate their mother at journeys end.
Staff reporter Marisa Yamana of KHON2 News shared the story with Hawaii viewers on the Sunday evening 6 O'clock news.
Also present at this historic event were Matt Myllykangas of Hunt Building Co. and yours truly, Regis.
